This site is a collection articles and stories compiled by John F. Tomczak. A large part of the stories and articles have come directly from his book "Shared Knowledge: Dealing With Bereavement," which was published in 2003 and can be purchased through bereavementbook.net.

Through many stories, this site and the book tells the how bereaved are able to help themselves and others who have been launched unwillingly upon a risky and often prolonged journey for which they have had no real preparation. This site and the book aim to provide help and resources from the perspective of the bereaved, a perspective that has largely been neglected.
